Summary: "Hitachi M12V2 Router"
Any one want a great router? Then buy the Hitachi M12V2 3-1/4 HP router! I bought my first one a while a go and now I own 4 of them. Unbelievable smoothness, effortless and incredible ease of use. I built 2 router tables, set them up for the rails and styles for the doors and then set up the other two routers for the raised panels. I switch from one router table to another when doing the tasks and it cuts my door making time in half. Hitachi has created a router raiser fine tune adjustment built into this router which is amazing. When I mounted the router I removed the plunge springs and drilled an extra hole in the router plate, to reach the adjustment nut for the fine adjustment. Now I can adjust the router from the top of the table and didn't have to buy an expensive router raiser. If you are looking for quality and performance this is where the search begins and ends.

Summary: "No problem with the power."
I have no problem with the power of this router, but the height adjustment is a joke. The screw threads on the height asjustment shaft, when you turn the lever over to the fine adjustment position, the spring presure pushes the router all the way out. The threads all stripped out the first time I used it. The power, like I said, is fine, the router is quiet, nice router, beyond the fine height adjustment problem.

Summary: "Works great, hidden above table height adjustment"
My wife bought the router for me 2 years ago for christmas. I got it as a dedicated router for a router table cabinet I was adding to my table saw. Prior to receiving the router I fretted about whether or not to add a router lift and finally decided to wait and see how much of a hastle it would be to deal with under the table adjustment given the cost of most router lifts. As I removed the sub-base to attach the router to the table insert, I noticed a lock nut on the bottom of the height adjustment shaft. I turned the nut using a socket wrench (sorry, don't remember what size) and it seemed to turn the height adjustment shaft easily. I figured I had nothing to lose, so drilled a hole in the phenolic router table insert large enough to slip the socket through to make above the table adjustments. I've been using this router regularly for the past two years and the height adjustment using this method has always performed flawlessly, and it didn't cost me a thing. I've never used this router other than in my router table, so I can't comment on some of the problems others have encounterted. But if you're looking for a work-horse for your router table, I would give this one my highest recommendation.
